The Dartmouth Political Union is hosting a student debate on drug legalization. A predetermined student panel will engage in a structured discussion, moderated by Debate Director Mac Mahoney '26. Students will prepare opening statements and engage with other students holding different opinions. The debate is expected to explore the balance between personal freedom and public welfare, with participants presenting prepared evidence and reasoned arguments to further a comprehensive understanding of this complex issue. At the beginning of the debate, the audience will be surveyed on their opinions surrounding the issue. At the end, the same survey will be given to explore how the debate changed the opinions of the viewers.
