Aynura Erejepbaeva is an environmental, cultural and feminist activist from a small village in Karakalpakstan, an autonomous country within Uzbekistan. She has spent several years assisting my community in a variety of ways: as a spokesperson for the effects of climate change and the Aral Sea crisis, as a proponent for women's education and empowerment, and as a voice for the protection of Karakalpak culture in the face of globalization.
Aynura studies Cognitive Science and Human-Centered Design at Dartmouth. She's also planning to minor in International Studies to bring her unique experiences in Uzbekistan, Taiwan, Russia and the U.S. together.
