Digital technology increasingly defines the learning and social environment of American colleges and universities. Even in classrooms, students are increasingly plugged in, dividing much of their time between online coursework and online social media. What are the consequences of all this computer-mediated learning and socializing? Is there evidence that new digital technology poses danger for students’ intellectual and social lives?
